Saints Virtual Academy now offers an independent virtual learning option through a program called Acellus CyberSchool.
Aimed at Kindergarten to Grade 5 students, Acellus covers math, science, social studies, language arts / reading, as well as STEM and foreign languages.
Classes are delivered via pre-recorded videos made by teachers outside the school district, but students can do homework “at their own pace,” according to a message from Selma City Schools.
A parent orientation will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the Selma High School auditorium.
“We are delighted to be able to offer this option to our elementary families,” said Avis Williams, Superintendent of Schools for Selma City. “Please keep in mind that this is an independent learning program and academics will need the support of an adult at home to be successful. Parents and guardians of students are requested to send an opt-out form when they withdraw from a school.
