Thursday the FBI San Francisco office confirmed that the case is still open.

“The FBI’s investigation into the Zodiac Killer remains open and unsolved,” the FBI told Fox News. “Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and out of respect for the victims and their families, we will not provide further comment at this time.”

The Case Breakers also believe that Poste, who died, was responsible for the 1966 murder of Cheri Jo Bates in Riverside, Calif., Two years before the first murder attributed to the Zodiac.

Bates was killed on October 31, 1966 and found on a college campus. His murder is still unclear. In August, the Riverside Police Department offered a reward of $ 50,000 for information leading to his killer.

The Case Breakers said a 1975 FBI memo stated that Bates was the Zodiac’s “sixth victim”.

“We believe 100% that our Cheri Jo Bates case is not affiliated with the Zodiac case,” Riverside Police Officer Ryan Railsback told Fox News. “Nothing has changed on that.”

The Case Breakers have said they want to share their evidence on Post with authorities in Riverside. The police department declined to comment on the group’s findings.

The first known Zodiac murders took place in December 1968 when a couple were fatally shot while inside a car in Benicia, California. Another couple was shot dead in Vallejo on July 4, 1969. The man survived. In September 1969, a couple were stabbed near a lake in Napa County. The male victim in this case also survived.

A taxi driver was shot dead in San Francisco in October of the same year.

The murders have given rise to numerous documentaries, films and conspiracy theories. Several potential suspects have been named over the years, but no one has ever been charged.
