Looks like Valve released a hotfix for Proton to make it compatible, as you said, is hard to know if a future update could break it but at least it’s better than an old version of Proton GE.

Yeah dood, I really like it, it’s a neat piece of hardware. After you learn how prefixes work, you can manually mod any game, even use protontricks to launch save editors or mod managers. And saved my *ss with a dock when one of the memory modules of my 3080 decided to die.

The lack of drivers for my sound card is the only thing that stops me from making a partition for linux on my desktop, I could swap the AE-9 for my old SBZ or use the Focusrite 2i2 3ºGen I use for my guitar, but I don’t like the headphone DAC it has and going back to the SBZ is a bummer.

As already said by @Lil Wang, Helldivers 2 indeed can be made to run on the Steam Deck:

However, it’s unclear if a future update could break compatability, because the anti-cheat works at the kernel-level on Windows, which it can’t do on Linux.

I have been having a great time with it. It is just like Starship troopers. Match making has not been a problem for me really. I just had click for quick join a few times to find a match. It took like 30 seconds.

Someone was able to get it to work in desktop mode. They left instructions on the steamdeck subreddit.
